Final Presentation - Research Studio 2022

On the topic of “Adaptation” as it pertains to addressing Sansom Place West (a 50-year-old high-rise dormitory tower on the Penn campus), the final presentation of the EBD Research Studio took place on Thursday, December 15 at the Upper Gallery of Meyerson Hall. Guest critics were a rich mix of academics and practitioners in the field, included Lori Ferriss, Professor Rashida Ng, Professor David Hollenberg, Dr. Forrest Meggers, Professor Martha Bohm and Shibei Huang.

Before the onset of individual project presentations, the review started with introductory topical presentations relevant to all projects. Student Xiaoxiao Peng presented the guests with a summary of the comprehensive collective dissection the studio performed on the current building. Student Tian Tian then presented projected change in climate in Philadelphia in the coming decades. After that, Student Mickey Chapa lead a panel discussion with the guests structured around questions critical to environmental building design.
