This project is designed for the hot, dry climate and urban context of Los Angeles. A large roof provides shade, with daylight simulations optimizing openings for comfortable illumination. Courtyards and bioclimatic strategies, including solar chimneys, cross‑ventilation, and buoyancy‑driven airflow, create a comfortable indoor and outdoor learning environment.

Located in Denver, Colorado, this elementary school integrates ecological design and climate-responsive strategies to foster curiosity and inquiry. At its core is a botanical garden that serves as a living laboratory, surrounded by classrooms and semi-open spaces that connect students to natural cycles and environments.

Designed for Denver’s harsh climate, the building employs earth-sheltering techniques, earth-tube ventilation, and a thermal “onion” heating approach supplemented by a sunlit atrium and geothermal heating. These strategies optimize thermal comfort, reduce energy demand, and enable long‑term resilience.

Located in an urban forest in Atlanta, GA, this project aims to create an elementary school that embraces nature and serves the community. The design responds to Atlanta’s humid subtropical climate, utilizing abundant greenery for shade, natural ventilation, and light to create a healthy environment for learning and growing. The school is not only a place for children to learn and play but also a green public space open to the community. In addition to education, the forest trail, activity plaza and open lawn of the campus are also open to the neighboring residents.
