Green Horizon School is a seasonal, climate-responsive project in Philadelphia’s mixed-humid zone. Designed for passive comfort, it uses bioclimatic strategies such as roof design optimized for solar gain, thermal mass for heat retention, natural ventilation, and rainwater harvesting. A glazed corridor acts as a greenhouse in winter and a ventilated passage in summer. The design adapts to seasonal shifts, minimizing energy use while supporting learning and community engagement.

CLP School in Phoenix, Arizona, is a passively cooled K–6 campus that achieves over 88% thermal comfort through a blend of traditional and innovative bioclimatic strategies. Shading devices and overhangs minimize solar heat gain, while thermal mass walls made from local earth enable night flushing. An overlay roof supports downdraft evaporative cooling, enhanced by atmospheric water capture. Elevated structures preserve the desert terrain and native biodiversity, while CFD and daylight simulations informed performance-driven design. CLP demonstrates a cost-effective, low-impact alternative to conventional, mechanically cooled schools in arid climates.

Nestled in a forested site in Woodland, Texas, this project integrates passive and hybrid cooling strategies for energy efficiency and climate resilience. A dual-roof system, one for Sky Radiative Cooling and another for liquid desiccant dehumidification works with Photovoltaic Thermal panels to optimize cooling and energy generation.

The Mass Timber structure enhances thermal performance, while an opaque western façade minimizes heat gain. The sloped roof maximizes passive cooling, and underground thermal storage ensures adaptability in varying conditions. Designed to blend with its environment, the project sets a benchmark for sustainable and resilient architecture. 

Pagoda Green is a response to the challenges posed by Houston’s hot, humid climate and deteriorating air quality. This innovative design introduces a modular green wall system paired with passive cooling strategies to enhance thermal comfort. The building’s signature zigzag shading system reflects the city’s dynamic energy, while inside, a fractal pattern of green walls within the atrium connects the residential and office wings.

The green walls, supported by solar chimneys, filter and circulate air throughout the building, while an indirect evaporative cooling system ensures consistent, comfortable temperatures.
