Hybridization for Built Ecology

Youngjin Hwang, a designer, building scientist, and Assistant Professor of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, investigates the intersection of architectural design and building science to address complex challenges in the built environment. In this talk, he will introduce his recent development of a climate-adaptive opaque building envelope system
featuring a novel double-sided hydronic heating and cooling layer embedded within a structural module. The presentation will illustrate how a single innovation can bridge multiple disciplines, uncovering new possibilities for advancing building technology and design.
