Plan and Axonometric view for heat distribution on four types of aggregations.

We took references from vernacular desert architecture and used them as a baseline to iterate our form-finding module - maximizing internal volume and minimizing exposed area to solar radiation, while exploiting night cooling potential from earthen materials. The mass form is derived from optimized aggregation incorporating thermal mass, evaporative cooling potential, and data server on a floor-less, porous organic form. The conventionality is broken down to design “data trees” which maximize stack effect potential within the volume. A well-integrated analysis addresses the aesthetic qualities of the space within and without. While intricately weaving the geometry and systems creating a design language dominated by its materiality of adobe and glass blocks. In our proposal, the envelope seeks to coalesce space, material and form with bioclimatic considerations.

  • Plan and Axonometric view for heat distribution for final massing.
  • Overhead view of the landscape elements surrounding the building.
  • In a sectional view cool air enters at the base and heat escapes through a central core in the data tree.
  • Upward view of the interior structure of the data mass.
  • Site plan showing the Data Mass occupy a city block in the downtown area.
