Building typology and hypothesis

Design façade for passive comfort

To re-design a multi-faceted Trombe Wall in a temperate humid region that is energy generating and is automated according to the functional need of the end-user, as well as controls the spread of the virus.

Hypothesis and overarching goals:

The space is a commercial office space connected by a corridor. The Trombe wall has multiple elements that accelerates the rate of natural ventilation across the seasons. There are two layers used in the thermal storage wall - transparent PCM and water, for both the summer and winter season as well as multiple vents that are operated according to the season. The energy generated by the zig-zag semi-transparent perovskite panels should generate enough energy to run the mechanical fans in the room throughout the year.
