Executive Education Instructor
Janki A. Vyas is the principal of a design and building performance consulting firm, KARMA co/lab, which specializes in evidence-based design and environmental performance simulation. She holds a Master of Environmental Building Design from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Janki has a background in sustainability consulting, design research, and Transit/K-12 architectural design and construction.
Janki started her teaching career in 2018, teaching first at Temple University and then in the Master of Science in Sustainable Design (MSSD) program at Thomas Jefferson University. Janki joined the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design in 2021. She currently teaches two graduate-level courses, Daylighting and Building Performance Simulation. In Daylighting, students learn how to integrate daylight simulation into their design workflows to create well-balanced daylit spaces that reduce glare while minimizing reliance on artificial light. In Building Performance Simulation, students learn how to use energy and thermal comfort modeling at various phases of design to improve the efficiency and comfort of spaces in existing or new buildings. Starting in 2024 Janki will also be teaching a 3-week course for Weitzman’s Executive Program in Design for Sustainability.
