This student project explores the feasibility of 3D printing self-supporting bricks using a pH-neutral granular mixture that fosters bio-mineralizing bacteria. The research aims to advance bio-cementation techniques in construction by optimizing the mix design for structural integrity and bacterial growth. The primary materials include sand, clay, and DE, selected to enhance viscosity while minimizing excess liquid. By increasing binder concentration and testing alternative aggregates, the project seeks to develop sustainable, self-supporting bricks that can be stacked while supporting bacterial activity for enhanced material performance.
