Breathing Double-facade

Breathing Double-Facade

The concept of an operable double-skin facade is that the openings or shading system inside the double facade system could be adjusted and reach the thermal comfort goals of different seasons. In this facade system proposal, the main supporting structure of the panels is telescopic rods that are able to stretch within a certain distance. Combining the shading and double fa􀀃ade system together will have a significant impact on increasing winter operative temperature.

In addition to the opening and shading facade system, the interior walls of the double facade system are also equipped with operable windows and vents to further regulate the ventilation of the room. During the day, we adjust the opening angle of the openable windows on the interior walls so that the air that is heated in the buffer zone enters the room, cools down, and is extracted through a mechanical system.
In the evening, the vents are open, and the sunshades are closed on the fa􀀂ade which has good insulation properties to reduce heat loss in the buffer zone, achieve ventilation in the room, and reduce CO2 concentration.
